“Doing a New Thing”

Happy New Year!  The beginning of 2014 seems like a good time to re-assess, re-commit, and embark on new adventures.  It is a time to align ourselves with the God Isaiah knew, who does new things large and small.  Toward that end, the worship committee will start something new on Sunday, January 26.  We will have our first worship forum!  This will be an opportunity for anyone to provide feedback to the committee, express concerns and / or ideas, and become more informed about the work of the committee.  We will meet from 12:00—2:00 in the east aisle of the sanctuary.  The forum will take place during the first hour; the second hour will be for regular committee business.  You are invited to attend one or both hours.  Our plan is to have a forum once a quarter.

Possible topics for the January forum include:

  • Banners and other types of art for use in worship
  • A new member ritual
  • Review of our baby dedication ritual
  • Dreams, prayers, thoughts, ideas — for Lent

As we enter 2014, may we work together to both affirm our traditions and create new ways to worship the God who is even now doing a new thing in our midst!

— Mary Stainton & Julie Less, Worship committee chairs.
