University Church is supporting an immigrant family who is working day jobs as much as possible, as long as it is safe for them to leave their residence. Until they are able to have steady jobs, we are providing them with extra supports to bridge gaps in their daily needs.
UChurch’s Sanctuary Task Force is looking for volunteers to help with grocery shopping (a list will be provided; you can either donate the purchases or be reimbursed), transportation to and from a part-time workplace downtown until it is safe to use public transportation, and occasional child care for a 5-year-old girl when both parents are working. If you can help in any way, please email the Task Force and indicate how you can help and how best to contact you.
We also need donations to help with groceries, housing, and possible legal assistance. On the church’s giving page, specify “immigrant support” on your contribution.
Both adults in the family have work permits and SSNs and would prefer steady, full-time work. If you have any leads on employment, please include that information in your email.
